Israeli boy falls to death from third-floor hotel room in Georgia
An Israeli boy died Saturday in Georgia after falling from the third-floor hotel room in which his family was staying in the capital Tbilisi.
The incident occurred near the city’s Freedom Square. An ambulance quickly took the child to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
No other details were immediately published.
The Foreign Ministry said it was aware of the incident and that its department for Israelis abroad and the consul in the city were in contact with the family.
Shas MK Haim Biton, who is also a minister in the Education Ministry, was also in contact with the family and helping coordinating the transfer of the body to Israel, Hebrew media reported. Biton is on a family vacation to Georgia.
Last year, 7-year-old Dror Smadja from Beersheba fell to his death from a hotel window in Barcelona, Spain.
Smadja, who had just arrived in Barcelona with his family on vacation, heard children playing soccer on Monday and wanted to watch them, his parents Yifat and Hagi Smajda said.
“In one cursed second, he fell to his death while leaning against the window,” they said.
